Mission: Impossible as a movie franchise is nearly 30 years old, and the next entry, The Final Reckoning , is due out in May. What better way to celebrate it and its Tom Cruise-ness with a museum exhibit?
Per Variety, the Museum of Moving Image (MoMI) in Astoria, NY is launching a “Story and Spectacle” initiative for the franchise, with a special focus on Cruise’s commitment to the stunts in each Mission: Impossible. Sections will cover a major stunt or setpiece in each individual film—like the Burj Khalifa in Ghost Protocol, or Cruise’s Ethan Hunt clinging to a plane in Rogue Nation—and include insight into their creation.
“For almost 30 years, Mission: Impossible films have thrilled audiences with suspenseful stories and unparalleled practical stunts,” said MoMI’s deputy director for curation Barbara Miller. “We’re excited to partner with Paramount Pictures on this major exhibition to explore the series’ unique achievements and create a fun, illuminating experience for fans and visitors.”
The “Mission: Impossible—Story and Spectacle” exhibit will open Friday, April 18, and Final Reckoning hits theaters on May 23. You can buy tickets here.
