At Lenovo’s Tech World Shanghai 2025, the company unveiled its most ambitious gaming laptop yet: the 18-inch Lenovo Legion 9i 10th generation. Following the release of the Legion 7i Pro 10th gen at CES 2025, the new device is the successor to the 16-inch Legion 9i unveiled at CES 2024.
Packed with top hardware features, including a 2D/3D glass-free display, this powerhouse could replace a mobile workstation for gaming enthusiasts, fulfilling the motto “work hard, play hard”.
Initially launching in China, with a North American release to follow, the Legion 9i 18-inch includes top-notch components, such as an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, up to 192GB of RAM, and 8TB of storage.
Display With An Optional Glass-free 2D/3D Panel
The Legion 9i 10th gen features an 18-inch PureSight display in two configurations. The standard 2D panel offers a 3840 x 2400 resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, for smooth gameplay. The optional 2D/3D display relies on eye-tracking and a lenticular lens array to deliver glasses-free 3D at 1920 x 1200 resolution. This dual-mode screen can switch between 4K 2D and 2K 3D, with refresh rates reaching up to 440Hz in Full HD mode.
Lenovo’s 3D Studio software complements the hardware, supporting 3D viewing for various video, image, and streaming formats. Additionally, it enables 3D gameplay for 30 popular titles, including Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarök, and Forza Horizon 5.
Top-notch Performance and Hardware Customization
Under the hood, the Legion 9i is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and can be configured with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU featuring 24GB of GDDR7 memory. This combination delivers a total power output of up to 280W, ensuring top gaming and content creation performance.
The laptop supports up to 192GB of dual-channel DDR5 RAM and up to 8TB of SSD storage across four slots, including one PCIe Gen 5 slot. This modular design allows users to upgrade components as needed, providing flexibility for future enhancements.
Advanced Cooling and AI Integration
To manage the substantial power output, Lenovo has integrated its Legion Coldfront: Vapor cooling system, which maintains optimal temperatures while keeping noise levels below 48 decibels in performance mode.
The Legion 9i also features the Lenovo AI Core chip and AI Engine+, which dynamically adjust system settings based on user activity. These AI-driven tools optimize performance for various tasks, from gaming to rendering, and include features like Game Coach and Game Clip Master to enhance the user experience.
Design and Connectivity
Aesthetically, the Legion 9i boasts a unique carbon fiber lid made from eight layers of aviation-grade material, resulting in a lightweight yet durable chassis. Each lid features a distinct pattern, ensuring that no two units are identical.
Lenovo offers a broad range of connectivity options, including two Thunderbolt 5 ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI 2.1, an Ethernet port, and a full-size SD card slot. Wireless connectivity is equally robust, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
Availability
The Lenovo Legion 9i (18″, 10) will first launch in China, with a North American release expected in the fall. While pricing details have not been disclosed, the premium specifications suggest it will be positioned at the high end of the market.
